Reflection
I chose my first topic (developmental psychology) because we were told our presentation should contain vocabulary terms, and I knew I could think of a million vocabulary terms related to that topic. However, after doing that presentation in the fall, I quickly learned it was a difficult topic to interpret, especially to an audience of interpreting students, not psychology students.
For the spring, I picked a more visual topic and kept the activity much simpler. This helped the presentation overall go more smoothly, and I think it was more well-received. I also was able to think more about the presentation as a whole, whereas when I was presenting about psychology, I felt like I had to keep a check on my word choices so I wasn’t too mean to my classmate who was assigned to interpret. It was brought to my attention after the presentation that even though I felt I was talking painfully slow, I was still talking fast compared to standard presentation speed. That is something that I have been working on in the past and will continue to improve in the future.
